AN INCREDIBLE HONOR

A Journey of Purpose

Being named to Incisal Edge magazine's 40 Under 40 is an incredible honor. But the journey that brought me here began long before I ever stepped into dental school in a small village high in the Peruvian Andes.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to share a little of that journey, what inspires me, and why I love what I do.

A painful path to a promising dental career

Las Cruces dentist earns national recognition after an unlikely journey into the profession

Tyler Parsons had no intention of becoming a dentist. In fact, after a couple of painful experiences with dentists while serving as a missionary in Peru, he wasn't particularly fond of the profession.

He had always planned to become a physician. But the dental problems that began in Peru, and the dentist who eventually helped him recover from them, changed the direction of his life.

Today, Parsons owns Bright Star Dental in Las Cruces, where his interest in art, sculpting and solving puzzles has become central to his work.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SMILE

Why I Became
a Dentist

At 20 years old, 11,000 feet up in a remote Peruvian village, I found myself facing my first real dental emergency.

What happened next changed my perspective, shaped my future, and ultimately led me to the work I do today.

A more personal introduction

Behind the
White Coat

The person behind the practice.

Dentistry is a big part of my life, but it isn't the whole story. Before I'm a dentist, I'm a husband, a father, and someone who believes that the way we treat people matters far more than the titles we earn.

My path has taken me from serving as a missionary in Peru to serving as a dentist in the U.S. Army, and eventually to Bright Star Dental here in Las Cruces. Each chapter has shaped the way I think about responsibility, service, and the trust people place in us.

Outside the office, I value time with my family, opportunities to learn, and the small, everyday choices that make us better. I believe in working hard, staying curious, and doing the right thing even when nobody is watching.

The goal isn't simply to do great dentistry. It's to be someone worthy of your trust.

A PERSONAL REFLECTION

What Matters
Most.

The recognition is an honor. The real privilege is the trust patients place in me.

Every day brings another opportunity to earn that trust, to listen closely, to care thoughtfully, and to help someone feel comfortable and confident in their smile. That's the part of this journey that matters most to me.
